Thankful in Advent

Advent

Well the countdown has truly begun (well actually for some it did the day after halloween)!

24 days of expectancy for the big day.

The truth is that for many, the preparation and thought of Christmas fills them with dread. Having  to negotiate the perils of Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas traffic jams, people traffic jams, cash register traffic jams, the staff christmas do, un-boundaried expectations from the kids, the ‘relies’, culinary pressures and not to mention for a good few folk, the abject fear of spending their first or ‘yet another’ Christmas on their own… Our social media feeds will be full of ‘why I hate Christmas’ posts.

STOP!

Advent is a gift to us. Given to focus the heart and soul. Graciously given so we can can allow our hearts to swell with thankfulness for the unbridled, unparalleled gracious gift of the King and His Kingdom.

So over the next 24 days I’m posting 24 little pause for thoughts for those of us who would like to spend just a moment focussing on why we can be ‘Thankful in Advent’.

Stay tuned!
