And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard…”

And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God…”

But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit…”

And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people…”

We can be Thankful In Advent because the advent story dis-arms the four great fears of believers…

1. Fear Not: Your prayers have been heard (Zechariah)

2. Fear Not: God has poured His favour on you (Mary)

3. Fear Not: In doing the right thing (Joseph)

4. Fear Not: The gospel is good news of forgiveness that brings great JOY… not the threat of punishment (Shepherds)

The perfect LOVE of the Trinity casts out fear!
